I just registered my domain name, but when I type it into my Web
browser, it says the domain can't be found. Why?
Although you received the email confirmation from us, there are many more
steps still to be done behind the scenes. Your domain will be entered into
the global WhoIs database, and your registration must travel to all the
ISPs in the world. It will be 24 to 48 hours after you receive the
confirmation, before you will be able to access the domain with your Web
browser.
The difference between yourname.com and www.yourname.com?
yourdomain.com is the name of the domain itself. www.yourname.com is the
actual address of your domain on the Web. Visitors can access your web
site by typing either yourdomain.com or www.yourdomain.com. Both will
direct visitors to the same web site.
The difference between domain name registration and
hosting package registration?
Unlike other money making hosting companies, in order to provide our
customers a better service for the value they are paying,
ExtendedHosting handles Domain names and Hosting accounts separately.
In order to obtain full web hosting service you need to purchase both
Domain and Hosting package.
What if my domain
name is registered or I choose to register my domain name with another
company? Can I still use ExtendedHosting hosting facilities?
Yes, you may use any Registrar. We will send you the DNS after your
purchase of any hosting package from ExtendedHosting. However, we
recommend you to register the domain with us to get the optimum
performance and service.
How soon will my account be set up and ready to use?
Your account will be ready within 24 hours or less in most cases. You will
receive an email with your account information, user name and password.
You can then start uploading your site.
Does ExtendedHosting allow adult, warez or other illicit sites or
content?
No, we do not allow such contents in our servers. Please read our terms
and conditions before you signup with us.
Can I purchase ExtendedHosting services without a credit card?
We do not accept any form of payment other than online credit card
processing. We accept all the major credit card types.
What is the minimum contract period of
ExtendedHosting services?
The minimum contract period is one year, both for
domain names and hosting packages.
What is POP/SMTP email?
POP/SMTP email accounts are email accounts which store your messages on
server, just like your ISP stores your email for you, which is
downloadable to Outlook Express, Eudora, etc All our accounts comes with
the ability to check your POP/SMTP accounts web based, which is a rare
service to be found in other hosting companies.
What is a Catch All Account?
Catch all account is your main POP/SMTP email account. All the emails
comes to the email addresses such as comments@yourname.com, help@yourname.com,
admin@yourname.com are automatically forwarded to your catch all account
if you haven’t created separate accounts for those names.
What is an Auto Responder?
You can use an auto responder to automatically send a message back to the
sender of any message you receive. Some examples of how you can use an
auto responders are acknowledging that you received messages or informing
people that you are on vacation and won't be reading your email for a
couple of days.
My hosting package has two POP email accounts. How can I get more?
The only option you have is to update your package to the next higher
package which suits you. You can do this anytime by contacting our
helpdesk. You will be asked to pay the difference only, no administration
charges for this service.
